EASL Final Four 2025 Player To Watch: Lu Chun-Hsiang

Lu Chun-Hsiang Continues to Shine as One of Asia’s Top Stars Ahead of Final Four

There were high expectations for Taoyuan guard Lu Chun-Hsiang entering the 2024-25 East Asia Super League (EASL) season.

Though the Pauian Pilots were not widely favored to advance past the group stage, expectations were sky-high for Lu, the reigning P. LEAGUE+ Most Valuable Player.

Taoyuan’s debut EASL season began with a statement victory, a 91-70 road win over the Suwon KT Sonicboom. However, it was a forgettable performance for Lu, who finished with just seven points on 2-of-14 shooting.

Fast forward to today, and those seven points remain his lowest of the season — by far.

Since then, Lu has been nothing short of exceptional, emerging as the undisputed offensive leader for Taoyuan. Even with the option to play two imports for the full 40 minutes, the 6-foot-3 combo guard has been the focal point of Taoyuan’s offense, thriving in pick-and-roll situations.

Lu’s rise began during his MVP season in 2023-24, where under head coach Iurgi Caminos, his offensive creativity flourished within a free-flowing system. This has carried over into his 2024-25 campaign, where he now averages 19 points per game in EASL play.

In a must-win game on Feb. 5 against Hong Kong Eastern, with a Final Four berth on the line, Lu scored a season-high 33 points, including five 3-pointers, leading Taoyuan to an 87-61 victory.

Impressively, Lu’s EASL performance isn’t isolated. His stellar play has extended to the P. LEAGUE+ — where he averages 17.9 points — and the international stage. On Feb. 21, Lu contributed 18 points in a FIBA Asia Cup Qualifier against the Philippines, helping Chinese Taipei secure a 91-84 win. Notably, he hit a crucial left-wing 3-pointer in the final minute to seal the victory, keeping Chinese Taipei’s hopes alive for the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Lu’s continued rise has propelled Taoyuan to a Final Four berth in its first EASL season.

Don’t miss Lu and the Pauian Pilots in action against Japan’s Ryukyu Golden Kings on March 7 at 21:10 CST in Studio City Macau.
