Lin brothers lead the New Taipei Kings into battle Wednesday against Seoul SK Knights

New Taipei City, November 7, 2023 – A new chapter in the storied career of Asian basketball phenom Jeremy Lin begins this week, as he leads New Taipei Kings into their first game of the East Asia Super League 2023-24 Season.

Jeremy is playing at the P. LEAGUE+ team alongside his brother Joseph, in a combination that is capturing the imaginations of basketball fans across Asia.

The Lin brothers and their teammates at New Taipei Kings take the court this Wednesday, November 8, against Korean Basketball League powerhouses Seoul SK Knights, in an EASL 2023-24 Season Group B game. The game will be played on the Kings’ home court at Xinzhuang Gymnasium, tipping off at 19:00 local time.

Jeremy has said that winning EASL is one of two major ambitions for the Kings this season, alongside the domestic P. LEAGUE+ championship.

“The goals of the new season are to win the P. LEAGUE+ and the East Asia Super League,” he told media recently. He added, “EASL is a special opportunity to compete with different leagues, there are a lot of great players out there and we look forward to playing against them.”

Seoul SK Knights will pose a stiff test for the Kings. The KBL team includes talent such as guard Kim Sun-Hyung, one of the leading lights of the Korean national team. Adding spice to the encounter, at a recent press conference Lin suggested that he was unfamiliar with Kim. Speaking to EASL last week, Kim responded, “He will know who I am after this game.”

Seoul SK Knights are on 1-1 in EASL this season. They soundly defeated Japan B.LEAGUE champions Ryukyu Golden Kings last week at home, after losing narrowly away to the same team two weeks previously.

The New Taipei Kings are looking to establish themselves as a pan-regional force by winning the historic inaugural season of East Asia’s first full-season pro club championship.

At home, the ambitious Kings are out to end the dominance of their rivals Taipei Fubon Braves, who have won P. LEAGUE+ three seasons in a row. The Kings lost to Fubon in last year’s P. LEAGUE+ Finals. Both teams are competing in this year’s EASL.

Fans around the world can watch Jeremy Lin’s EASL debut on broadcast and streaming platforms including: U-NEXT in Japan, SPOTV in Korea and Southeast Asia, Cignal TV in the Philippines, Videoland in Chinese Taipei, Zhibo8 and other platforms in China, FIBA’s Courtside 1891 and EASL’s Facebook channel.

The EASL 2023-24 Season features 24 home and away group stage games from October 2023 through to February 2024. The EASL Final Four in March 2024 will see the top four teams in the group stage compete over four games for the title of East Asian champion.
