The Ryukyu Golden Kings, an expansion team that joined the bj-league in 2007, set the bar for greatness early on and have worked hard to uphold it. Being the first sports team in Okinawa granted them a great fan base from their hometown and having a recorded attendance of 8,623 spectators last May against the Chiba Jets at Okinawa Arena (the Ryukyu Golden Kings' home stadium) was proof of that.
During the 21-22 season, the club was one of the best passing teams in the league averaging 19.5 assists per game. The club also went on a league-record 22-game win streak. In the B.LEAGUE 21-22 season, the Golden Kings finished off the regular season by being the first rank in the standings, but they lost to Utsunomiya Brex in the B.LEAGUE championship finals.
In the 22-23 season, the Golden Kings won their division and plowed their way through the playoffs to play in the B.LEAGUE Finals in as many years. They defeated the regular season champions Chiba Jets 2-0 to claim their first B.LEAGUE title in franchise history.
