Taoyuan Secures Last Final 4 Spot In Group A

As the No. 2 seed in Group A, the Pilots are slated to take on the Ryukyu Golden Kings on March 7

The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots are headed to East Asia Super League (EASL) Final Four 2025. With an 87-61 win over Hong Kong Eastern on Wednesday, the Pilots secured the final Final Four spot in Group A and will travel to Macau as a No. 2 seed. Now, only one Final Four spot remains, which will go to the winner of the New Taipei Kings vs. Meralco Bolts matchup in Group B on Feb. 12.

In front of a home crowd of over 5,000, the Pilots came out strong, opening the game with a 14-0 run before Hong Kong got on the board. By the end of the first quarter, Taoyuan held a commanding 32-7 lead. Reigning P. LEAGUE+ MVP Lu Chun-Hsiang led all scorers with a game-high 33 points, including five made 3’s. He was one of three Pilots to reach double figures, while imports Treveon Graham and Alec Brown combined for another 33 points.

For Taoyuan, the victory is a much-needed relief — not only does it punch their ticket to the Final Four, but it also snaps a two-game losing streak. After opening their 2024-25 EASL campaign with a dominant 3-0 start, winning by an average margin of 24.3 points, the Pilots dropped back-to-back games against Group A’s top seed, the Hiroshima Dragonflies (B.LEAGUE) on Dec. 25 and Jan. 22. As the No. 2 seed, Taoyuan will now face Group B’s top finisher, the Ryukyu Golden Kings (B.LEAGUE), who dominated their group with a near-perfect 5-1 record.

The EASL Final Four, set for March 7-9, will award $1 million to the champion, $500,000 to the runner-up, and $250,000 to the third-place team. Taoyuan and Ryukyu are slated to clash in the second semifinal on March 7.

Taoyuan’s qualification also marks the second consecutive season that a P. LEAGUE+ team has reached the EASL postseason, following the New Taipei Kings’ Final Four appearance in 2023-24, the league’s first home-and-away season.
