Ryukyu Golden Kings sign Shogo Taira on Loan Transfer

Shoga Taira will play for Ryukyu until Nov. 13

The Ryukyu Golden Kings have signed point guard Shogo Taira on a loan transfer from B3.LEAGUE side, the Yokohama Excellence. Ryukyu announced this news in a press release on Oct. 15.

Taira will be with the Golden Kings until Nov. 13 and is expected to suit up for their East Asia Super League season opener against the Meralco Bolts on Wednesday.

“I’m looking forward to playing basketball in Okinawa, where I have a special connection surrounded by my family and relatives,” Taira said. “I’m also happy to be able to play for the Golden Kings, a top team in the B.LEAGUE, which is what I’ve been aiming for.”

In four games with Yokohama during the 2024-25 season, Taira has averaged 1.5 points and 0.8 assists in just under 10 minutes of play per game. The Excellence currently sit at third in the B3.LEAGUE season standings at 3-1.

Taira attended Takushoku University before beginning his professional career in 2020 with Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka. The 5-foot-7 guard has since played for Shinagawa City Basketball Club and Shonan United BC before landing at Yokohama.

Taira is slated to wear No. 47 with Ryukyu.
