P. LEAGUE+ sides will face the top teams from Japan, Korea and the Philippines

The P. LEAGUE+ champions the New Taipei Kings and runners-up the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots have been placed into their groups for the East Asia Super League (EASL) 2024-25 Season.

As P. LEAGUE+ champions, the New Taipei Kings have been placed into Group B, where they will match up against B.LEAGUE runners-up the Ryukyu Golden Kings, Korean Basketball League (KBL) champions the Busan KCC Egis, and one of the best-performing teams from the Philippine Basketball Association’s (PBA) 2023-24 conferences.

The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots have been placed into Group A, where they will face B.LEAGUE champions the Hiroshima Dragonflies, KBL runners-up the Suwon KT Sonicboom, and a second top-performing PBA team.

The P. LEAGUE+ champions and runners-up both automatically qualify for EASL. The New Taipei Kings secured the 2023-24 P. LEAGUE+ championship yesterday evening, beating the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots 4-1 in the finals series.

The draw for the EASL 2024-25 Season Group Stage was preset earlier this year in agreement with the participating leagues.

P. LEAGUE+ CEO Webber Cheng said, “The P. LEAGUE+ is delighted to be sending its champions and runners-up to compete against East Asia’s best teams in the EASL. The New Taipei Kings and the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots are outstanding representative teams, and we expect that one of them can be crowned East Asian champions next season.”

EASL CEO Henry Kerins said, “EASL is honored to have the P. LEAGUE+ champions and runners-up competing to be the champions of East Asia. The New Taipei Kings showed that they are one of Asia’s best teams with their run to the EASL Final Four last year. The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots will bring new energy and competitiveness to the league. We can’t wait to see them both on the court next season.”
