Jung Kwan Jang ends Group Stage with back-to-back wins

Gameday 16: Group A – Taipei Fubon Braves 70 (1-5) vs. Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters 84 (4-2)

February 7, 2024 – Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, Taipei

The Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters will be going to the EASL Final Four with momentum after ending the Group Stage with back-to-back wins. The Korean Basketball League champions finished their group campaign by defeating the Taipei Fubon Braves 84-70.

Jung Kwan Jang are now set to play Korean Basketball League rivals Seoul SK Knights in the EASL Final Four semifinals on March 8.

Post-Game Triple

  1. Carter continues Player of the Month form

Robert Carter Jr. of the Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters was named EASL’s January Player of the Month last week.

He continued his strong form tonight against the Taipei Fubon Braves.

Carter scored a game-high 21 points, helping his team win their second straight game entering the Final Four in Cebu, Philippines in March.

  1. First win in five for Anyang

This win is Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters’ first victory in their last five games across the EASL and the KBL.

While they currently hold a disappointing 13-25 record in the KBL, Anyang finishes the EASL Group Stage with an impressive 4-2 record.

They will look to carry this momentum into the Final Four in Cebu, the Philippines, in March, where they will face Korean rivals Seoul SK Knights in the semifinals on March 8.

The two teams met in both the EASL Champions Week Finals as well as the KBL Finals in 2023. Anyang took home both championships last year. Next month, they'll be playing to defend their EASL title.

  1. Patton stars for Fubon

The Taipei Fubon Braves started their fifth import of the year this evening as Justin Patton made his EASL debut.

The six-foot-11 center recorded a double-double tonight, with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Patton, the 16th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft for the Chicago Bulls, signed with Fubon on January 13. In five P. LEAGUE+ games, he is averaging 8.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and one block per game.

Michael Singletary, Chris Johnson, Ihor Zaitsev and Stephen Zimmerman are the other four imports who starred in at least one EASL game this season for the Braves.

EASL Player of the Game: Robert Carter Jr., Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters

Jung Kwan Jang import Robert Carter Jr. secures his second consecutive Player of the Game honors.

The American big man tallied a game-high 21 points, as well as 13 rebounds.

Carter, the EASL January Player of the Month, is now averaging 23.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in three EASL games.

Quotes of the day

Anyang Jung Kwan Jang Red Boosters forward Robert Carter Jr.:

On his time with Jung Kwan Jang:

"It’s great, man. I’ve been enjoying my time, having a great time playing [in the] EASL, playing with my teammates. Everyone are good guys. Everybody just want[s] to play good basketball. We brought in Millie (Jamil Wilson) - great player, fits alongside him. And man, we’ve just been having fun!”

On facing Seoul SK Knights in the EASL Final Four semifinals:

"I’m just excited. We want to go out there to compete and get another win. They’re a good team. And we’ve got to bring our 'A' game. That’s what we’re going to try to do."

On how Jung Kwan Jang can defend their EASL title:

"Just keep playing together, playing hard, trusting each other, trust in the coaches... just got to go out there and compete. I think we have great sets with the team that we have in the EASL, and just got to go out there and do the same thing.”
