EASL Adds Mongolia’s ‘The League’ To 2025-26 Roster And Beyond

The 2024-25 ‘The League’ champion will join EASL’s third home-and-away season this fall

East Asia Super League has added Mongolia’s ‘The League’ to its 2025-26 roster as part of a long-term partnership.

The Champion from Mongolia’s premier basketball league will join next fall, bringing the total number of confirmed teams to 11 for next season. Additional leagues are expected to join soon.

This expansion represents a significant milestone in EASL’s mission to unite the top basketball teams across Asia. The league now features the top clubs from the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.

“This is a historical moment for Mongolian basketball,” Secretary General of the Mongolian Basketball Association (MBA) Tugsjargal Sambuu said. “The EASL platform is key to putting Mongolian basketball on the map and proving we can compete at the highest level.

‘The League,’ which celebrated its 30th anniversary during the 2024-25 season, consists of 10 teams. The regular season concludes in March, with the top eight teams advancing to a best-of-seven playoff series that culminates in late April. The league’s champion will represent Mongolia in the 2025-26 EASL season.

This partnership marks a major advancement for basketball in Asia. By continuing to bring together the region’s top teams, EASL is raising the level of competition and driving the sport’s growth across the continent.

“This partnership is a landmark achievement that’s never been done before,” EASL’s Chief Executive Officer Henry Kerins said. “Partnering with Mongolia’s ‘The League’ ensures that EASL teams will compete against strong, well-prepared opponents, raising the level of the game for everyone involved.”
