East Asia Super League Announces Thrilling 2024-25 Season Schedule

Expanded Format Promises Unprecedented Action in Search for East Asia's Next Champion

The East Asia Super League (EASL) has unveiled its highly anticipated 2024-25 season schedule, promising basketball fans an exhilarating lineup of matchups featuring East Asia's elite teams.

This season marks an exciting expansion with the addition of two new teams, following the recent inclusion of the Hong Kong Eastern and Macau Black Bears.

The EASL season will feature 30 group stage games, spanning from October 2, 2024, to February 12, 2025. All ten participating teams will compete in round-robin play, each playing six games—three at home and three on the road.

The championship will culminate in a four-team, four-game Final Four playoff, scheduled for March 7-9, 2025.

Group Stage Breakdown

The season will kick off with a group stage divided into two dynamic groups:

Group A:

  • Hiroshima Dragonflies: 2023-24 Japan B.LEAGUE Champions
  • Suwon KT Sonicboom: 2023-24 Korean Basketball League (KBL) Runner-Up

Key Dates & Matchups

October 2, 2024 – Season Tipoff

The EASL 2024-25 season gets underway with a thrilling double-header in Manila.

The San Miguel Beermen will open the season against Korean powerhouse Suwon KT Sonicboom.

In the late slate, the Meralco Bolts will seek redemption from a challenging previous season as they face EASL newcomers, the Macau Black Bears.

October 16, 2024 – Group B – Ryukyu Golden Kings vs. Meralco Bolts

A rematch of last season’s Clash of the Champions in Macau, where the Meralco Bolts stunned the Ryukyu Golden Kings in Studio City in an overtime thriller.

The Bolts' victory gave Meralco the first win from a Philippine side all season while putting a massive dent in Ryukyu’s hopes of making the Final Four.

Will Ryukyu avenge their costly loss last season, or does Meralco have their number?

December 11, 2024 – Mid-Season Classic

The EASL returns to Macau for the Mid-Season Classic featuring two exciting matchups.

The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots will take on Suwon KT Sonicboom, while the Macau Black Bears will host the New Taipei Kings, last season’s fourth-place finishers.

December 25, 2024 – Group B – Ryukyu Golden Kings vs. New Taipei Kings

The P. LEAGUE+ champions, New Taipei Kings, will travel to Okinawa to clash with B.LEAGUE runners-up, the Ryukyu Golden Kings.

The two teams split their previous encounters last season. However, New Taipei secured one more win in the Group Stage last season to beat out Ryukyu for a spot in the 2024 EASL Final Four.

Will the Golden Kings avenge their last season’s disappointments and come out stronger against the Kings?

Get ready for an action-packed season as the East Asia Super League sets the stage for a dramatic quest to crown the next champion of East Asia.
